Revised ‘McDonald criteria’ expected to speed the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis

As recently posted by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the McDonald Criteria for the Diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis have just been revised by a 30-member international panel of MS experts. The team published their findings in The Lancet Neurology online on December 21, 2017.

Julia Nedelcu wins poster award of the European Charcot Foundation

From 30 November until 2 December, the 25th Annual Meeting of the European Charcot Foundation took place in Baveno, Italy. A total of 74 posters were presented by Young Investigators and 5 Young Investigators from the ProMyelo research team were supported with a travel grant: Christin Reinbach, Julia Nedelcu, Felix Schweiger, Felix Fischbach and Nico Teske.

Histamine Receptor 3 antagonism to promote remyelination in Multiple Sclerosis patients
Treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) needs to target not only focal inflammatory lesions but also the neurodegenerative component of the pathology. While several treatment modalities are available to suppress inflammation during the relapsing-remitting disease course, it still remains a medical and scientific challenge to develop a treatment for progressive MS. In consequence, there is an increasing interest in developing new drugs that will promote neuroprotection and/or myelin repair.
